The Social Enterprise World Forum was held in Melbourne October 6-8 2009. The goal of the Forum was to build on the success of the inaugural 2008 SEWF, which took place in Scotland, UK. The 2009 forum focused on exploring the role social enterprises play in encouraging and facilitating social inclusion, including creating sustainable employment opportunities for those disadvantaged in the labour market.
Presenting
the highlights in word, video and sound, Geraldine Cahill, Communications
Coordinator for SiG National and SiG@MaRS will discuss the Social Enterprise
World Forum. Geraldine will also present on her deeper discussions with the
School for Social Entrepreneurs (Australia) and the Auckland social finance community.
Presenting alongside Geraldine will be Ethel Côté from the Canadian Centre for
Community Renewal, Canada. During the last 25 years, Ms. Ethel Côté has
fostered the implementation of some thirty work, services and production
cooperatives in addition to supporting agricultural, agrifood, housing and
child care cooperatives in Canada. Ethel is a founding member of the
